First of all, Friendsmix Social Network
has reached its 500th members. Thank you
for everyone spreading the word about our community. We are very thankful. When I posted back in the 1st
quarter that we were close to 500 members, we were sitting at 478 members. Well, 75 members later, we now sit at 553
members and steadily growing. Our
overall goal of 1000 members by the end of 2008 I feel is still obtainable, so spread
the word. If everything goes well, we should meet this goal with no
problem.

www.friendsmix.net

Now on to our other community, (radio community for our Radio Station), JC Internet Radio, is 20 members away
from reaching 100th members status. Since this is a smaller community, we
are aiming that this community reach its 100th member by the end of August/September
(revised from a date of reaching this goal be the end of June) with a goal of 125
members (revised from 250 members) by the end of the year.

www.jcinternetradio.com

Let’s look at yet another community that we created, The Southern Mix. The
community was sitting at 62 members during the 1st quarter. Today,
this group sits at a stellar 125 members.
This community is an exclusive Hip-Hop/R&B/Rap community. We
reached our goal of 100 members by the end of April with no problems. We are going to revise the goal of 500
members to 250 members by the end of the year though.

www.thesouthernmix.com

Each one
of the projected numbers I feel are obtainable for us to reach with no
problems. I will be excited to see where we are at by the end of the 3rd
quarter. The bottom line is this: Those are all big goals but we believe in the
success of all of these communities and feel that each of those communities
will live up to the hype.

Now for Juniorscave news! We are very
pleased by the number of hot interviews we have conducted in the last few
months of some of the hottest Indie bands and artists in the music
industry. I think this is our signature mark and one that seems to work
for Junior's Cave. We have a host of new Indie band interviews coming up that
promises to entertain and thrill music lovers everywhere.

Next quarter, I will introduce even more new Columnists to our pages as well as
new forums, new communities, and new designs of all of our pages. The best is
yet to come folks.

Until the next quarter, I am outta.

entertainers and have their fans/our readers call in for questions. The

Another new feature we have is located on our home page entitled News on

important to our readers/audience.<u1:p style="font-family: Tahoma;"></u1:p>
As stated before, our readership is gaining every month as our Music Section is
taking off. In fact, Music Submit, an online resource center for Musicians and
Entertainers, recently contacted me to extend a thank you for the great work
our magazine is doing. The company stated that many of the entertainers we have
interviewed have been pleased with what we have done with in representing them
to the general public. It has been my pleasure along with the staff to
provide to our audience the best in Indie Music to our readership. You
can locate Music Submit at http://www.musicsubmit.com<u1:p style="font-family: Tahoma;"></u1:p>
On to Friendsmix News, The Indie Online Community for the Indie Culture for the
South is definitely coming to its own as we are reaching our goal of 500
members for 2007. At this point, we stand at 354 members and growing. I
think once you sign up for an account on this community that you will find it a
great place to visit as I do everyday. Have your friends, family, and
your foes sign up at http://www.friendsmix.net<u1:p style="font-family: Tahoma;"></u1:p>
<u2:p style="font-family: Tahoma;"></u2:p>Last but not least, as mentioned
earlier, I have changed the guard for our Internet Radio Station. Now,
the station will feature all the Indie musicians that we have interviewed over
the course of two years. Why interview all these awesome entertainers if
we weren’t going to play them on our station? Well, that question has
been solved. Check out our station at the address below along with its online

I am
overly excited about the many changes that are taking place with all of the
many projects that are going on with the magazine and its other sites. First of all, I am currently working on
finally forming the LLC Company that will serve as host for all of the various
sites and projects that we currently do.
Originally, when I first started Junior’s Cave Golden Isles Online
Magazine way back in December 09, 2005, the magazine was pretty much my only
activity that I was doing so the need for a LLC was not needed back then. Now, with so many projects coming up, I feel
the need to group these ventures under one single umbrella is a must.

Now comes Coastal Georgia Entertainment, LLC where Junior’s Cave Online Magazine, Friendsmix
Social Network, JC Internet Radio Station, Juniorscave TV, and various other “companies”
will fall under the LLC company. This will allow me to better market all of the
various projects to ensure that everyone is getting a fair amount of
exposure.

Now for some good news about Juniorscave.com:

Our readership is gaining every month as our Music Section
is taking off. In fact, I am reviewing several other forums of the page to
decide if the need for them exists. Right now, 65% of our stories, interviews,
spotlights, reviews, and features are centering on our Music page—Music Now. We are happy that this page is exploding but
we want to continue to focus on other areas of the magazine as I truly feel
that is the originally appeal to the magazine is its focus on a variety of
areas not just one or two. After the end
of this month, I will work with several members on my team to decide on a new
format and a re-focus of the magazine. Stay Tune for that and other great news
about the magazine including the launch of our hard printed version coming up
around Spring 2008.

On to Friendsmix News, I am happy to report that Friendsmix
is steadily growing as the small community has reached its 225th member. Our goal for July was to reach 250 members so
we were a tad short--- about 25 members. Our goal for the year is still geared
towards at 500 members and with everyone spreading the word we can reach this
goal easily. Have your friends, family,

I am pleased to present you another edition of the Editor in Chief's blogs with all the latest updates and upcoming new stuff from the Indie minds of Junior's Cave. Let's start off by stating that slowing but surely the main social community, Friendsmix, is gaining its own edge in the social arena community. We are currently sitting at 161 members and we are hopeful that we will reach the 200th mark by the end of the month with 500 members by the end of the Summer 2007. Spread the word and get blended at friendsmix.net. When we have reached over 1,000 members, we will launch a super cool contest that will give away lots of cash and prizes--be on the look out for that one soon.

This is a big one here. We ran a contest giving away CASH MONEY for two months. Originally, it was for one month only but NO ONE entered so we decided to extend the contest another month with no one entering the contest. Come on people. It's free money. Just enter to take a chance. So I have decided to begin another contest again starting in July. It will be the best bikini contest and whomever wants to enter and show up her best bikini to be judged by our panel of judges will win either 3rd place, 2nd place or 1st place. 3rd place wins $25.00, 2nd place wins $50.00, and 1st place wins $100.00. Stay tune for more info on this contest.. ANd in August we will have sexiest Hunk contest for the men to enter.

Readership of the magazine is continually going up and we want to thank all of our readers out there for spreading the word on this Indie process. Moreover, I want to personal thank the number of great spotlights, interviews, exclusives we have done in the past several months. One big announcement is that we have landed a great exclusive with Derrick from MTV's Real World and Road Rules Challenges and should be featuring that one in a few days.

I am always up for suggestion and want to thank everyone who has written in on great stories and stuff to be featured on Junior's Cave. It’s actually fairly exciting to me as the candidate field is full of new directions. On the GOP side there is a Mormon and on the Democrats side we have a woman and an African-American. It’s definitely a different cast of characters than we've seen before. Now of course the issue is whether we as Americans will actually elect anything other than the norm. Honestly, I’m ready for a change. America is supposed to be the land of equality but yet we've never had an African-American or female president, what’s up with that? Personally, I’m rooting for Hillary Clinton but that’s just me.

The other candidates have great things to offer as well but I’ve always been a fan of Hillary and I admire her strength and her determination. It doesn’t hurt that she’s extremely intelligent. Of course, there are a lot of people who won’t vote for her, for various reasons, but you never know, she may win the Democratic Primary and then we shall see what happens from there. One candidate on the GOP side puzzles me; Rudy Giuliani. for the life of me I cant understand why a party of supposed "FAMILY VALUES" would be rallying around a guy that’s had 3 marriages, a very public affair with his secretary, is pro-choice and supports gay unions?(not that I have a problem with any of those things) I know they say he was a great leader after 9-11 but that’s really questionable mean look at George Bush, they said he was a great leader during 9-11 and I think we all know that he is a terrible president, but I digress. so as we go forward into the election whirlwind I hope that we can all keep our heads together and maybe if the time is right and the candidate is worthy of our votes, we may also have a part in making history by electing the first female, the first African American or the first Mormon to the office of president of the USA.

<dc:subject>Withrow Rants</dc:subject>

February's Edition 2007

How do I develop a personal code of ethics?
How do I develop a personal code of ethics? This is why any authentic creation is a gift to the future.”

- Albert Camus (1913-1960) French novelist, essayist and dramatist.

Running an independent online magazine can be hectic especially for someone who is a novice like me. But, one of the most rewarding aspects of running this magazine comes from when I receive emails from my readers who tell me that they are enjoying what we are doing and to keep up the good work. One of the biggest reasons for the success of the magazine is the overall “culture” of the staff that runs the magazine. Since the magazine’s conception (launched on the Internet--December 09, 2005), I have attempted to maintain a certain level of professionalism with my staff while creating a family atmosphere while running the magazine. Currently at this time, online publications are on the rise in the market. The Internet is a vast wealth of information that provides valuable resources and tools to its users. A recent article stated that “while still important, print media is no longer the primary source of information and inspiration for many leftists, especially those under 35. The Internet and its future interconnection with Cable/TV/Ipod technology is becoming the main information source of the future” (Sargent, 2007).

With that knowledge, I knew that I my decision to launch an online publication was right on. Now the real test is what type of online publication would Junior’s Cave be in comparison to other similar magazines. My staff and I have approached running the magazine from an independent viewpoint—giving our audience our perspective from the everyday man or woman’s eyes. We knew that we did not want to be the next Time Magazine or People Magazine—we wanted a product that would separate us from the other “types” in our industry. In looking at our position in the publication arena, we are appealing to the audience who are looking to read about people who would not normally appear in the larger publication—the boy or girl next door or the local hero that goes unnoticed in the larger media. The magazine’s current strategy, organizational structure and management practices are all approached through the mentality of providing the market with a fresh innovative product that focuses on the “everyday” person. Junior’s Cave takes time to find that person who is doing something to make a difference, that person who is trying to live out her dreams, or that person who is overcoming extreme obstacles.

What the staff at Junior’s Cave has discovered is that there’s a market for this type of publication that was missing in smaller communities. The magazine is located in the Coastal Georgia area of this country—booming with all types of wonderful tales to be released to its community. That is the main purpose of Junior’s Cave and its overall culture makeup. What is the predominant culture type of the organization is a question that one can look at to help discover why Junior’s Cave Online Magazine is successful. The most obvious ones are the ability of the magazine to speak to its audience through their stores, spotlights and interviews, their ability to make their audience feel like they are reading stories from a personal close friend, and their ability to make the everyday man or woman shine like stars. In essence, the magazine’s ability to provide everyday people information that relates to them is one of the publication’s strong points. There is a hand few of online publications that seem to operate in the same manner as we are operating with similar results from their readership. One magazine that comes to mind is the ethnic magazine aimed at the Latino community called Hispanic Online Magazine, a totally web-Internet publication, providing a wealth of information to its audience.

We, as a society, are moving away from the big Hollywood stories to the mom’s and pop’s publication. Another question being asked is how does this type of culture benefit the organization? It benefits our magazine in many ways including being able to feel that our stories and interviews are being read by people who really are going to enjoy learning something that is hitting close to home. Our staff, on the other hand, enjoys working on these stories because we are able to provide to our community and its audience some neat features to the public of “everyday” folks in our area doing amazing things in their life. That would be one of the best rewards from publishing the magazine daily. Audience feedback reveals that the “independent” edge that the magazine carries while people are reading the magazine enables them to forget that they are reading a publication and feel like they are reading someone’s journal or private thoughts. That is an amazing feeling for me and my staff; we are accomplishing this goal. With any organization, there are negative feedbacks to how the organizational “culture” is set up. One of the biggest hindrances of running the magazine from the larger counterparts’ viewpoint is that the magazine gets too personal in its stories as the level of professionalism is sometimes questioned with the tone of the magazine. But, to answer those critics, that is why my staff and I work in this type of “culture” because we enjoy the down to earth—mom’s and pop’s attitude of the magazine and how it relates to presenting materials online.

In fact, in one of the letters to the Editor, a reader wrote in to me and stated that she has always enjoyed reading our various stories on the magazine—she always feel that she is reading about her next door neighbor or someone in her community that she knows (Juniorscave.com, 2006). Letters of this nature that I receive makes me realize that I am on the right path. Changes to the culture that I would change would be absolutely nothing. The magazine will continue to provide information to our audience from an independent perspective. We have always worked with one goal in mind; to connect the human race. We want our audience to think of Juniorscave.com as the “Human Network” online -- bringing humans from all walks of life into one online experience. Overall, if one looks at the culture of Junior’s Cave based on the beliefs of Rob Goffee and Gareth Jones, two business leaders who have reduced culture to two dimensions, then Junior’s Cave would be identified by Solidarity. This is the degree to which people think together in the same ways, sharing tasks and mutual interests. The main driving force in decisions is logic (Changingminds.org, 2007).

References

Changingminds.org, (2007). .
