Junior's Cave Music Interview with Tracy Woody
Fall (October/November 2011) Edition
Music Now Spotlight

Tracy Woody

Junior’s Cave Golden Isles Online Magazine recently interviewed an aspiring singer and songwriter who has a flair for making passionate and intimate songs about love. Tracy Woody loved making music ever since she was at the young age of 2 years old when her operaretic mother helped her realized her true calling. Since then, Tracy has never looked back. This is her story in this special spotlight with our publication.

Isaac: It's an amazing time to be a DIY artist/performer/band/musician. What do you enjoy the most about being an indie performer?

Tracy: Full control and freedom, direct fan connection and interaction including the opportunity to THANK them personally for their nice comments and support, the ability to make decisions on exposure, the ability to earn what your worth, and the gratitude to Magazines like Junior's Cave Online Magazine to allow Indie Artists like myself to express my message of love worldwide through my music.

Isaac: If you had an opportunity to sign with a major label, would you sign now knowing you may have to give up some of what you have built up over the years about you in the process?

Tracy: That is a very hard question because given the right circumstances a certain label could put you in a position to be more exposed in a quicker period of time due to their already established contacts including a wider coverage of radio stations. Furthermore, I will never say never but I will say I'm having the time of my life with what opportunities I have been exposed to without a record label and as an Indie Artist and I am very grateful for it.

Isaac: I remembered Simon Cowell from American Idol talking about the "it" Factor that makes a musician/band stand out. What do you think is your "it" factor that makes you stand out from others in the music business?

Tracy: Artist sing about any issue but for me my issue is to inspire people to love. Love is the glue that binds all things together and the solution to the majority of problems if not all if there is some serious deep soul searching done and finding ways to help others. You can't have too much love and it stands the test of time every time.

Isaac: Why should music fans listen to your music? Describe what they are going to get when they listen to your music?

Tracy: Because I want to inspire them to love and show it to those they meet. I want to inspire myself to show it to others because it makes me truly happy and satisfied in life. No one's perfect so we have to keep being reminded of it and working on it. When we do show love it brings rich rewards. My music is full of Love in a dance and joyful type of way. My song "Your Love" and it's Remix depicts a contrast of love but you can still move your feet to the beat through the electronica style of its music. My "Sweet Beat of Love" and it's Remix makes you want to dance to the sweet beat of love without escaping the hold love can have on you.

Isaac: Briefly describe your humble beginnings that led you to where you are at musically now.

Tracy: With my thankfulness to God through my mom's operaretic tone and my love for singing religiously ever since 2 years old, I always love singing and listening to music. At 11 years old was my start of singing and performing in talent shows and weddings through the years. Singing and music has always been a big part of my life. It's really who I am and what I'm about. It's me.

Isaac: You have some strong iconic influences. Of these influences, which artist/band do you relate to the most and why?

Tracy: I wouldn't mirror singers such as Barbra Streisand classical melody, the late Minnie Rippleton sensational high pitch voice, and Denise Williams beautiful smoothness just to mention a few but I have my own style and sense of who I am. I could never sing exactly like them and I'm not supposed to. They are who they are because of who they are and I am who I am because of who I am; however, I definitely have been inspired by their sense of style and expressions.

Isaac: Do you feel that Indie music gets the respect it deserves? Why or why not?

Tracy: I feel that record labels still have a lot more respect because representatives can submit to Grammy Awards and Indie Artist may be a bit limited in this respect; however, the industry has changed a whole lot for respect for Indie Artist because to my surprise I was selected to be voted in the nomination of Electronica and Pop categories with the judges voting for the Best Artist of the Year, Best Album of the Year, and the prestigous "Alan Freed" Award consideration in held on Feb. 10, 2012 at the famous Key Club on the Sunset Strip of Hollywood for the All Indie Music Awards 2012 Red Carpet, TV, celebrities event and Sweet Beat of Love CD EP is being considered for being nominated by the judges and in the Vox Populi by the people in categories such as Electronica/Dance, Pop, Jazz, Love Songs, New Age, R&B, Rap Hip/Hop, Adult Contemporary, and EP in the 11th Annual Independent Music Awards that exposes your music to up to over 1 Billion music fans. I would appreciate your vote for Tracy Woody ONLINE in the Electronica & Pop categories of the Award image at www.aimusicawards.com/#!vote and while tickets are available for those that may want to be exposed to networking, Red Carpet, TV, and celebrities the event is 20% off by using Promo Code Tracy20 at this link:

Thanks for the support!

I'm grateful for both and all opportunities and along with radio stations that allow Indie Artist radio airplay internationally and Magazine coverage like Junior's Cave Online, I can say with firm resolution that Indie Artist are being recognized and given more respect than ever before. Details under Upcoming Shows at www.reverbnation.com/tracywoody

Isaac: If you could change one thing about the music business, what would it be and why?

Tracy: That Indie Artist be recognized for Award nominations in the Grammys, American Music Awards, and other Award Shows like these as well as Radio Station Airplay even though they may not be signed to a record label.

Isaac: Do you think in the near future that DIY artists/bands will be the norm and big record companies will be very limited?

Tracy: Big record companies still have many contacts so I wouldn't say they would disappear but I believe that if they were more creative with Artist and help them in a well-rounded way including profit wise be a partner with them that those are the survival business sense approaches to take in creating a WIN WIN situation for the Record Company and the Artist at the same time.

Isaac: What type of feedbacks have you been receiving about your music from fans and music critics?

Tracy: It's been amazing. Some of the fans including on Jango have been so inspiring to me at www.jango.com/music/Tracy+Woody when I started playing my music on internet radio. Loving inspiration does reciprocate back when you give it. I have been getting comments saying I have a nice voice to in other surveys I may have a hit, to I need to improve on what I have out there, etc. I dwell on the positive and am open minded to the others while I continue to educate myself to find ways to be more inspiring in my singing and songwriting and at the same time to build lasting relationships and to network.

Isaac: If you knew that you would never gain fame and fortune with what you are doing now, would you continue to make music? Explain.

Tracy: I find writing and singing as an expression to help others and myself. It's not about fame and fortune. It's about helping others. If you are fortunate in making money in this music industry, then you want to find a portion of ways to give back that will, in turn, continue to help others. Music is a part of me I could never leave it.

It comforts me and helps me find tranquility and helps my relationship with God, family, and others. I've been singing with music all my life to stop would be like not talking and not expressing who I am and I wouldn't want to be in that position.

Isaac: How do you handle negative feedback or negative energy about your music?

Tracy: I like to keep an open mind but not to allow it to hinder me to stifle my drive to allow others to hear it. I'm always trying to find ways to educate myself to expand my knowledge and I'm only going to get better and better because I'm still learning while I still enjoy music and singing. No one knows everything. There's always something new to learn. There's always a different way to look and present things. That's why there are remixes, different music, different singing, and different people. It makes the world go around.

Isaac: What role do your family and friends play in the equation of your pursuant of a music career?

Tracy: They are happy for me and I do have their support to reach goals I set for myself but also want me to be aware since not everyone wants to be inspired or have good intentions. I hope to reach the people worldwide who want to be inspired and who definitely have good intentions in life and want to help others wherever they may be located. Positive and inspiring people attract the same kind of people and I would like that type of energy flowing.

Isaac: What is the best site/s that you can be found on the Internet?

Tracy: I want to say to everyone listening to my music in my Sweet Beat of Love CD EP and allowing me to inspire and encourage that I've received the same inspiration in so many ways by others and through the years and I THANK YOU and I hope that we can continue inspiring one another in showing love by the things we do and say. Keep working on your goals since they are not far out of your reach! As we show love for others and to ourselves, we can say at the end of the day that we Love in every way!
