Isaac: It’s an amazing time to be a DIY artist/performer/band/musician. What do you enjoy the most about being an indie performer?
Liz: I enjoy being the boss to my singing career. I have control of what I want to sing, what crowd I want to target. It is truly a journey in which I have grown not only as an artist but as a business woman. I’m a one woman corporation shall we say (
Isaac: If you had an opportunity to sign with a major label, would you sign now knowing you may have to give up some of what you have built up over the years about you in the process?
Liz: I used to long the idea of being signed by a major label. I thought that if I wasn’t signed by one I would not be acknowledged and respected as an artist! In other words, if I was not signed by a major then, I was not good enough to be heard and appreciated.
Isaac: I remembered Simon Cowell from American Idol talking about the “it” Factor that makes a musician/band stand out. What do you think is your “it” factor that makes you stand out from others in the music business?
Liz: I feel my “it” factor is my versatility to sing different genres of music in different languages and still feel comfortable to perform in front of an audience. I feel I have a unique tone which makes my sound my own. I have been able to develop along with my producer a sound which is new and fresh.
Isaac: Why should music fans listen to your music? Describe what they are going to get when they listen to your music?
Liz: My music is a journey of thoughts and ideas which are lived by millions of people every day and sometimes do not find a way of expressing what exactly they feel. It is not your typical love story but a book of expression through lyric, melody, and sound.
Isaac: Briefly describe your humble beginnings that led you to where you are at musically now.
Liz: Memories….. I began with the hair brush in front of the mirror as a little girl. I sang everything and anything I heard, Spanish, English etc…
I later began singing in church and as well as taking lessons of classical piano and the rest is history.
Isaac: You have some strong iconic influences. Of these influences, which artist/band do you relate to the most and why?
Liz: This is a sort of difficult question. I have many influences in different genres of music and all of these I admire because of their uniqueness and strive!
I will name a few: Shakira, Sting, Adele, Julieta Venegas, Soraya, Laura Pausini, Mutemath, Rosa Passos we could be here for hours!
These artists are fearless and wear their emotions on their sleeves.
Isaac: Do you feel that Indie music gets the respect it deserves? Why or why not?
Liz: I feel it is starting to get noticed more and more! Indie artist today are recognizing the power they have in their hands and have developed a go get them attitude.
If you want to succeed you have to push forward. When one door closes, another will open. It does not matter if you perform for a crowd of hundreds or 10, give your best and leave them wanting more.
Indi artists are a stronger and wiser breed nowadays.
Isaac: If you could change one thing about the music business, what would it be and why?
Liz: I would like the music industry to be more about the talent and musicianship than showmanship! There are so many talent and well-rounded singers and musicians which to not get a solid chance to be heard.
Isaac: Do you think in the near future that DIY artists/bands will be the norm and big record companies will be very limited?
Liz: I believe it is already happening, it’s a new era! DIY are here to stay or better yet take over.

Isaac: What type of feedbacks have you been receiving about your music from fans and music critics?
Liz: The feedback has been overwhelming! Fans and music critics have loved the music, lyrics and the sound. I have fans in South America, Europe and US.
Fans have identified with different songs in my cd and are asking me to travel and do shows in their countries.
They follow what I do and I speak to them frequently via Facebook, Twitter, Skype etc….
Connection is key and I value each and every fan out there, you matter!
Isaac: If you knew that you would never gain fame and fortune with what you are doing now, would you continue to make music? Explain.
Liz: The answer is yes. I do music for the love of creating for the love of performing and the joy I feel on stage when I hold a mic and connect with the audience. There is nothing that compares to doing what you love and that which fulfills you and for me that is music!
Isaac: How do you handle negative feedback or negative energy about your music?
Liz: Well that will happen, with the good comes the bad and it can be taken two ways; you can let it defeat you or you can use it has a spring board to make you stronger and push forward. Take the negative and turn it into a positive. I know that not everyone will enjoy what I do but my concern is with those who do and giving them the best of me.
Isaac: What role do your family and friends play in the equation of your pursuant of a music career?
Liz: Their role has and continues to be full support. Let me share this cute story; from the time I started writing poems, songs a line basically anything as a little girl and show it to my mom she would always praise me, and she still does. She is my rock! To her, I was already a star
Isaac: What is the best site/s that you can be found on the Internet?
